Everyone must be feeling a slump (or Spring ambition?), because everyone is having a giveaway today.
The most timely one is at Don’t Try This at Home for TurboTax software. You know, in case you are such a slacker you haven’t finished your taxes yet (unlike Jane, who was so on the ball she finished four months days ago). I use TurboTax every year, and except for them tricking me into paying for efiling ON TOP of the $35.99 (at Costco), I love it. But what I really like is Melanie calling her ode to TurboTax “pimping out her blog.”
You can win Mother’s Day loot at Rocks in my Dryer and Seattle coupons at Scribbit. (What if you don’t have a mother or live in Seattle?)
And don’t forget the Makes-Me-Smile Monday carnival, where, for the price of a post remotely about the best movie ever (Some Kind of Wonderful), you can win a Fortune Cookie Kit. I know that I have never been happier than the day last week when I won a giveaway at Gourmet Mom on-the-Go. That was a proud, proud day.
If you would prefer not to participate, never fear. I will still love you (if I know you) and still respect you (if you care). And we might all be better off taking a break from blogging. The New York Times had a scary article about the detrimental physical ramifications of blogging. Maybe they are just trying to reinforce traditional journalism?
Or maybe this is a magic wand: If I just stop blogging, will I lose 30 pounds, get better sleep, and win my dream home? Hmmm. At least I’m not damaging my marriage: I am lucky (or not) to have blogging in common with Dick. But we have adopted a new priority plan. Basically we have to do 7 million things before we can post, and then go to bed before 11pm.
Have you seen the six-word motto meme? The Freakonomists held a contest for a New Six-Word Motto for the U.S. The winner: Our Worst Critics Prefer to Stay. But in the interest of reducing my blogging time, I’ve come up with a three-word motto for the blogosphere, and I won’t even try to turn it into a meme:
Please Blog Responsibly.

I’m not giving anything away. I’m waiting for the next big bloggy giveaway later this month. I had some Christian books to give away, but I donated them to my church’s bookstore instead. Less postage!
